Reasons for Getting Skin Fungus and How to Prevent It

All people including children are affected by skin fungus. Sometimes this infection is impossible to avoid because fungi live everywhere. ON our skin also live beneficial fungi. Skin problems like yeast infection, athlete’s foot, ringworm, jock itch, etc. happen when proliferate too much.

Fungal Infections

These fungal infections are uncomfortable health problem, that occur due to numerous reasons. Sharing underwear, personal hygiene products, etc. with someone who’s already infected are the most common ones. Some people are  more prone to fungal infections like people who sweat too much, doctors, nurses, those with a weak immunity, medical students, people who have been taking antibiotics for a longer period of time, people with no bladder control, etc.

These infections appear  at some areas where such as the genitals, the toes and feet, the armpits, and skin areas with creases since fungus needs moisture to thrive. Be careful when using public swimming pools and locker rooms to minimize your risk of a fungal infection. Don’t use combs and towels from such places.

The perfect environment for fungi, are synthetic material so you should avoid clothes made from this material and opt for cotton and linen. Do the same with underwear, shower regularly and thoroughly cleanse the area beneath the breasts and the toes.

Treatment

The risk of fungal infections is much greater when the immunity is weak. You should include a lot of fruits and veggies to your diet, as well as natural probiotics in order to to improve the body’s immune response. You should reduce the intake of carbs since fungus thrives on sugar. Get enough protein, healthy fat, sleep, and enough water. Avoid scratching the area to prevent the infection from spreading if you have a fungal infection. The area should be clean and dry and shower regularly.

Athlete’s Foot

The area between the toes  is affected by this infection causes it prickly red. The soles of the feet can be affected also.

Jock Itch

Usually in teenager boys and adult males who play sports and spend a lot of time in locker rooms this infection occurs in the groin area.  It is manifested by red scaly and sore patches.

Ringworm

Characteristic for this infection is that it looks as a small, lifted red area which resembles a small blemish. It can  appear anywhere, except on the feet, scalp, and groin.
